Who you'd be working with

Three decades in the room. None of the ego.

I'm Courtney Strickland. I've spent my career sitting with men through the things they don't say out loud anywhere else.

C. Courtney Strickland, LCSW

Most men don't come to therapy because they ran out of strength. They come because they've been carrying it alone for too long, and they're finally ready to put some of it down.

That's the work I do. For more than 30 years I've helped men get honest about what's actually going on, anger that shows up faster than it used to, drinking that crept past where they meant it to, anxiety that hides behind a calm face, and the quiet sense that something is off they've never had the words for.

I'm not here to fix you. There's nothing wrong with you that needs fixing. I'm here to help you see it clearly and do something about it, with a plan you can actually use.

Why men

Most rooms aren't built for how men show up.

An older man sits quietly, prayer beads in hand, looking toward the light.

Men are taught to lead with competence and keep the hard stuff to themselves. By the time it gets loud enough to deal with, the usual advice, just talk about your feelings, lands flat.

So we don't start there. We start with what you want, what's in the way, and what it's costing you. We talk plainly. We name things. And we build something you can carry into the rest of your life, your marriage, your work, your kids, your own head at 2 a.m.

You don't have to fall apart to deserve the time.
You just have to show up.

How I work

Three tools. Used like a craftsman, not a textbook.

The names are clinical. The work isn't. Here's what they mean when you're actually in the room.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

We find the thoughts running underneath the stress and the reactions, look at the ones that aren't serving you, and trade them for ones that do. Practical and concrete. You leave each session with something to try.

Motivational Interviewing

No lectures, no being talked down to. We start from what you actually want and find the leverage to move toward it. You stay in the driver's seat. I help you get traction.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

You stop spending all your energy fighting every hard feeling and start spending it on what matters to you. Make room for the weight, then keep moving toward the life you want.

The credentials, briefly

Earned trust, not a résumé.

The letters matter. What matters more is three decades of men walking out steadier than they walked in.

When you're ready

If any of this sounds like you, let's talk.

The first session is a conversation, not a commitment to anything bigger. You'll know pretty quickly whether it's a fit.
